May has been a month
full of energy, growth, and collaboration here at ESA FKIP Universitas Riau
2024/2025! As we step into June, it's the perfect time to look back and
celebrate the incredible efforts made by all divisions. From impactful
educational programs to inspiring discussions and productive internal sessions,
our beloved organization has truly thrived.
This month, we’ve seen
continuous enthusiasm from every corner of ESA, reflected in the wide range of
activities that brought members closer, encouraged personal development, and
strengthened our organizational spirit. Each event carried its own unique value—whether
it was about building skills, nurturing reflection, promoting teamwork, or
simply enjoying quality time together.

1. CLOSING CEREMONY OF NATIONAL ENGLISH OLYMPIAD (NEO) 2025

From April 19th to May 2nd, 2025, the National English Olympiad (NEO) 2025 unfolded with enthusiasm and excellence at Universitas Riau under the theme “Dare to Dream, Ready to Rise.” Formerly known as the Sumatra English Olympiad, this newly rebranded event continued its proud tradition of welcoming participants from elementary school to university, as well as the general public, from all across Indonesia. With a series of engaging competitions including Essay, Poster, TOEFL, Debate, Scrabble, Quiz, Speech, Storytelling, 3D Wallnews, Western Cosplay, Band, and Spelling Bee, NEO 2025 showcased a wide range of talents and passions. Each category brought its own energy—from heated debate rounds and expressive speeches to journalistic creativity and musical performance—demonstrating the depth and diversity of English-based expression.
Highlights of the two-week event included the national seminar and flashmob, a vibrant cosplay performance, the crescendo of the debate finals, and heartwarming storytelling sessions that connected speakers and audiences alike. The Closing Ceremony on May 2nd wrapped up the journey with pride and celebration, honoring the winners and participants who had poured their efforts into every round. Through this successful program, Universitas Riau continues to foster not only language skills but also confidence, creativity, and camaraderie among young learners across the nation.
2. ESA GATHERING 2025

On
May 4th, 2025, ESA Gathering 2025 brought together the warmth of connection and
the spirit of unity under the theme “ESA’s Bond, Stronger as One.” Held at the
FKIP Football Field from early morning until the event's conclusion, the
gathering was organized by the Membership Development Division of ESA FKIP
Universitas Riau 2024/2025. The event welcomed ESA Committees, EGG
participants, and members of the Institutional Supervision Council, all dressed
in coordinated outfits that reflected the collective spirit of the day. After
an opening ceremony filled with gratitude and purpose, participants energized
their bodies with a group workout session featuring fun dances like 1000 Steps,
Penguin Dance, and Maumere Dance.
The
day continued with exciting team-building games including Ular Naga, Estafet
Kertas, and Estafet Air, encouraging collaboration and cheerful competition
among randomly grouped participants. Laughter echoed across the field as teams
cheered each other on and showcased creative group chants. With prizes awarded
and joyful memories made, ESA Gathering 2025 concluded on a high note,
strengthening the bond between members and reaffirming ESA’s commitment to
growing together in unity and harmony.
3. EXPERIENCE EXCHANGE PROGRAM FOR ORGANIZATIONS (EXPO)

In May 2025, the Communication and Informatics Division of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau 2024/2025 successfully held two editions of the Experience Exchange Program for Organizations (EXPO), both conducted virtually via Google Meet at 8:00 p.m. until completion. The first session on May 3rd was held with ESA FIB Universitas Andalas, while the second on May 25th was conducted with KOMINFO BEM FKP Universitas Riau. Each event brought together executive boards and divisional members to exchange organizational insights, present program highlights, and foster collaboration through open discussion. Both sessions ended with the presentation of certificates of collaboration and group photo sessions, marking a meaningful step in strengthening inter-organizational ties and collective growth.

May 7th, 2025, ESA FKIP Universitas Riau hosted a Monitoring External visit
from BEM FKIP UNRI at the Gazebo. The meeting reviewed each division’s
performance and gathered constructive feedback to help ESA improve and grow
stronger. This session reinforced the shared commitment to advancing
organizational excellence.
5. EMO (ESA MINI OPERA)

On May 8th, 2025, the Interest and Talent Division of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau proudly launched the first EMO (ESA Mini Opera) at the FKIP art stage, starting at 4:00 p.m. The event featured captivating performances by division members and their EGG (English Gold Generation), showcasing creativity and talent to an enthusiastic audience. The following week, on May 22nd, EMO continued with exciting performances from the Funding and Business Division, Communication and Informatics Division, Social and Politics Division, and Secretary Division, promising even more memorable moments ahead.
6. ESA’S WALL MAGAZINE

Celebrating
boundless creativity and exploration, the Journalistic Bureau of the
Communication and Informatics Division (KOMINFO) of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau
proudly presents the May edition of ESA’s Wall Magazine, themed “Our Solar
System,” released on May 8th, 2025. Visitors are invited to explore this
space-inspired display at the ESA Secretariat and immerse themselves in the
wonders of the cosmos. Stay tuned for the next exciting edition as ESA
continues its journey through new and captivating themes!
7. COMMUNICATION ADVANCEMENT MISSION (CAM)

ESA FKIP Universitas Riau held the Communication Advancement Mission (CAM) with UIN SUSKA TV on May 10th, 2025, at the SUSKA TV studio. The event focused on enhancing media skills and fostering collaboration through presentations, discussions, and speeches from both institutions. It concluded with a certificate of collaboration and a group photo to mark the partnership.
8. LEADERS MEETING V

Held
on Friday evening, April 9th, 2025, at Bungan, the fifth Leaders Meeting
of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau brought together the executive team and all
division leaders at 6:00 PM for a productive coordination session. The meeting
focused on evaluating ongoing programs, preparing for upcoming events, and
reinforcing inter-divisional collaboration—highlighting the organization’s
continuous effort to improve internal synergy and performance.
9. EDUCATION SEMINAR 2025

The
English Student Association (ESA) FKIP Universitas Riau successfully held Education Seminar 2025
on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 — a forum focused on learning styles and
psychological barriers in language acquisition. The event opened with a formal
ceremony and continued with the first session titled “Finding Out How We Learn:
Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic Styles” delivered by Ms. Aulia
Agustiani, M.Pd., which emphasized the importance of understanding individual
learning preferences to improve academic performance.
The
second keynote, “Understanding
and Managing Language Anxiety”, was presented by Nabilah Eka Putri,
highlighting the psychological challenges faced by language learners and
offering strategies to build confidence and reduce fear in classroom settings.
The event also featured interactive games, feedback activities, and concluded
with certificate presentations for best participants. Education Seminar 2025
offered a valuable space for self-reflection, academic enrichment, and student
engagement.
10. CREATIVE MULTIMEDIA TRAINEE (CREATE) 2025

ESA
FKIP Universitas Riau 2024/2025, through its Communication and Informatics
Division, successfully held the Creative Multimedia Trainee (CREATE) 2025 with the theme “One Day, One Passion, Set
Sail on the Ocean of Imagination.” Taking place on May 11th, 2025,
in Room H1 of FKIP UNRI, the event was aimed at enhancing multimedia skills
among English Education Department students, especially the classes of 2023 and
2024. The opening ceremony was filled with formal proceedings including
speeches, recitations, and anthems, followed by a lively ice-breaking session
to energize participants before entering the core training sessions.
The
first session, Journalism
Class: Press Release Writing, was delivered by Sri Wahyuni and
included an engaging Q&A segment. It was followed by a hands-on design
workshop, Graphic
Design Using the Canva App, led by Asrilsyah, where participants
practiced creating their own ID cards. After a short break, the event resumed
with Video
Editing Using the CapCut App, presented by Yori Alfitra Salam,
where participants edited their own videos using provided materials. Rewards
were presented to outstanding participants before the event officially
concluded. CREATE 2025 successfully ignited student enthusiasm to explore
creative potential in journalism, design, and video editing—essential tools in
today’s digital era.
11. MINBA'S WEEKLY

The Interest and Talent Division of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau continued its "Minba's Weekly" program in May by organizing a volleyball game to foster camaraderie among English Study Program students. Held on May 15th, 2025, at the FKIP Volleyball Court starting at 4:00 p.m., the activity aimed to promote physical fitness, encourage teamwork, and provide a refreshing break from academic routines. Through this regular program, students had the opportunity to bond, stay active, and strengthen their sense of community.
12. SEKRE BERSIH III

Friday, May 16th, 2025, at 3:00 PM, the Secretary Division of ESA FKIP Universitas
Riau held the third phase of Sekre Bersih, a collaborative clean-up initiative involving
the Funding and Business Division and the Social and Politics Division. This
joint effort aimed to improve the cleanliness and organization of the
secretariat space while strengthening teamwork and a sense of shared
responsibility among members. Through this ongoing program, ESA continues to
promote a culture of unity, productivity, and mutual care within the
organization.
13. MENGELOLA DAN MENDATA INVENTARIS ESA III

Thursday
afternoon, May 22nd, 2025, the Secretary Division of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau
carried out its third inventory session at 2:00 p.m. in the ESA Secretariat
Room. Joined by EGG members, they reorganized and documented equipment to
support upcoming programs. This initiative highlights the division’s commitment
to resource efficiency and organizational preparedness.
14. KAJIAN MUSLIMAH I AND KANITA

Organized
by the Islamic and Spiritual Division of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau, Kajian
Muslimah I in collaboration with KANITA was held on Friday, May 16th, 2025, at
12:00 p.m. at the FKIP Art Stage. With the theme “Fiqh Muslimah and Worship: Living the Days
of Menstruation with Knowledge,” the event began with a Qur’anic
recitation and taujih session, followed by a detailed talk from Ayunda Aras
Larasati on menstrual issues from both religious and health perspectives. A
lively Q&A session allowed participants to deepen their understanding, and
the event closed with a group photo symbolizing shared learning and sisterhood.
15. EDUCATIONAL ISSUE STUDY II

Saturday, May 17th, 2025, ESA FKIP Universitas Riau 2024/2025 held Educational Issue Study II
at Room D8, bringing students together to explore the theme “Quiet Crisis: The Decline
of Deep Reading in the Age of Scrolling.” The session featured
speaker Devi Nurillahi, who delivered a thought-provoking material titled “Brain Rot: Distraction to
Deep Reading Ability in the Context of Digital Literacy,”
highlighting how digital distractions are quietly eroding our ability to read
deeply and think critically.
The
event included reflective moments, anthem performances, and a lively Q&A
session that encouraged participants to rethink their digital habits. It
successfully opened space for dialogue about today’s literacy challenges and
invited students to embrace a more mindful and focused approach to learning in
the digital era.
16. ESA'S SPORTS COMPETITION (ESCOM) 2025

The
ESA’s Sports Competition (ESCOM) 2025 began on Saturday, May 17th, 2025 with an
energetic opening ceremony and technical meeting held in Room D6, setting the
tone for a series of spirited tournaments. Under the theme “Win Together, Shine
Together,” the event launched with the first match of the futsal
tournament at Andi’s Futsal, marking the start of a month-long celebration of
teamwork and talent organized by the Interest and Talent Division of ESA FKIP
Universitas Riau.
The
excitement continued on May 18th with the futsal semifinals and finals,
followed by the badminton competition on May 24th and volleyball on May 25th.
The Mobile Legends tournament spanned three days—May 28th - 29th for the preliminary
round and May 31st for the final. To wrap up this dynamic sports festival, a
basketball competition will take place on June 1st, closing ESCOM 2025 with passion,
unity, and sportsmanship.
17. WOMEN STUDY III

Held
on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, at Room D6 FKIP Universitas Riau, Women Study III—organized
by the Women Resource Division of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau 2024/2025—carried
the vital theme “Respect
is Genderless: Protecting All Bodies and Boundaries.” The session
featured Ainun Octavia Wulandari, S.Pd, who delivered a compelling talk on
consent, various forms of sexual violence, and the cultural norms that often
enable them. The program featured spirited participation through a Q&A
session and concluded with recognition for the best participants, the event
successfully fostered awareness, empathy, and a collective call to respect and
protect all individuals, regardless of gender.
18. INTELLECTUAL COMPETITION (I-COM) 2025

Held
on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, at FKIP Universitas Riau, Intellectual Competition
(I-COM) 2025 brought together bright student minds under the
energizing theme “Challenge
the Limits, Own the Victory.” Organized by the Intellectual
Development Division of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau, the event featured five main
competitions—Essay, Speech, Storytelling, Debate, and Rank 1—across various
rooms (D4, D6, D7) and online platforms. The opening ceremony included prayers,
national songs, and remarks from the Chief of Event, the Chairperson of ESA,
and a representative from BEM FKIP. Notable judges included Hikmah Zalifah
Putri, M.Pd (Essay), Aulia Agustiani, M.Pd and Ghefira Auliya Rabbani Anedin,
S.Hub.Int. (Speech and Storytelling), and Innayah Rahma Dini, S.I.Kom (Debate).
Participants displayed sharp thinking and strong communication, making the
competition a lively and enriching experience for all. I-COM 2025 not only
celebrated academic excellence but also fostered collaboration, confidence, and
the spirit of intellectual growth among students.

Empowerment Division of the English Education Student Association at UIN SUSKA
Riau, held LEVIS
(Ladies Visiting) I with the theme "Creating Meaningful Support Networks
for Women." This empowering event took place at UIN SUSKA
Riau, starting at 3:00 p.m., on May 24th, 2025, offering a welcoming space for
open sharing, sisterhood, and mutual growth. Participants connected deeply,
fostering solidarity and support among women across campuses.

Class II on Thursday, May 29th, 2025, at D4 Room FKIP Universitas Riau,
under the theme "Enhancing
Professional Skills for Administrative Success in an Organization."
This enriching session aimed to build stronger administrative competence and
organizational professionalism, featuring insightful talks from Ega Rahmadani
(Deputy General Secretary of BEM FKIP Universitas Riau 2023/2024), Muhammad Fikri (General
Secretary of BEM FKIP Universitas Riau 2024/2025), and Siti Sovia (Chairman of Commission III
DPM FKIP Universitas Riau 2024/2025), who shared valuable knowledge and real-world experience
to inspire the next generation of student leaders.

Meet, Kajian Muslimah II was
successfully held by the Islamic and Spiritual Division of ESA FKIP Universitas
Riau under the theme "The Core
Value of Being a Muslimah." Starting at 08:00 PM, the session
featured Muqtia Destari as the inspirational speaker, who shared meaningful insights
on embracing one’s identity as a Muslim woman, maintaining spirituality in
today’s world, and upholding Islamic values based on Sharia.

and orderly environment, fostering teamwork and shared responsibility within
the organization.

The Social and Politics Division of
ESA FKIP Universitas Riau successfully held Evaluasi EGG as the initiator of
this program and the first division to carry it out. The evaluation was then followed
by the Secretary Division, Membership Development Division, Communication and
Informatics Division, Islamic and Spiritual Division, Funding and Business
Division, Interest and Talent Division, and Women Resource Division. This series of Evaluasi EGG reflects
each division’s spirit of reflection, appreciation, and commitment to improving
performance and strengthening collaboration within ESA.

The Internal Bureau of the
Membership Development Division of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau has conducted internal monitoring sessions as part of its commitment to fostering
growth and accountability. These evaluations have been carried out with the
Interest and Talent Division, Islamic and Spiritual Division, and Social and
Politics Division, focusing on assessing progress, strengthening collaboration,
and enhancing the overall performance of each division within the organization.
25. THIRD AND LAST MEETING OF ESC (ENGLISH STUDY CLUB)

Throughout May 2025, the
Intellectual Development Division of ESA FKIP Universitas Riau successfully
held the third and final meetings of its English Study Clubs—Speech, Debate,
Storytelling, Essay, and Book Club—marking the conclusion of this ESC cycle.
The Speech Club focused on speech texts and the key points conveyed in
effective delivery. The Debate Club wrapped up with practice sessions and peer
feedback, while the Storytelling Club explored expressive techniques to enhance
audience engagement. The Essay Club concentrated on refining arguments and
structure, and the Book Club concluded with insightful discussions based on the
participants’ reflections. These last sessions reflected the
participants’ growth and enthusiasm, and reaffirmed the division’s commitment
to continuous intellectual development.
