The University of Riau recently concluded its highly anticipated three-day PKKMB (Introduction to Campus Life for New Students) event, spanning from August 10th to August 12th, 2023. Under the inspiring theme, "Fostering Resilient Young Intellectuals and Entrepreneurial Agile Learners for the 2045 Golden Generation Era," this year's PKKMB UNRI 2023 proved to be a pivotal moment for the university's incoming students.

PKKMB UNRI 2023 served as a vital platform for new students to familiarize themselves with the intricate higher education system. The program, encompassing both academic and non-academic facets, was thoughtfully designed by UNRI to provide a holistic understanding of university life.

Furthermore, this year's event aimed to raise awareness among students about the significance of global engagement and adapting to transformative times. UNRI emphasized the need for students to develop data literacy, technology proficiency, and a deep sense of humanity. The university also emphasized the importance of being prepared to acquire the essential competencies demanded in the 21st century, including creative and critical thinking, effective problem-solving, communication skills, collaboration abilities, as well as a clear understanding of career pathways and the value of lifelong learning.

The event commenced on August 10th, 2023, with a grand inauguration at the university level. This included the formal induction of new students by their respective Deans, held in the spacious grounds of UNRI's Bina Widya Campus. The Chancellor of UNRI, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti SE MSi, extended a warm welcome to the diverse group of new students, acknowledging the various pathways through which they had joined the university.

On the second day, August 11th, 2023, PKKMB activities continued at the faculty level. A total of 1,435 new students from the Faculty of Teaching and Education (FKIP) participated in this segment, themed "Becoming Prospective Teachers as True, Skillful, Agile, and Tenacious Learners." The day began with remarks from the Chair of the FKIP UNRI PKKMB Activity Committee, followed by an opening address by the Dean. The program included the official induction of new students into their respective Environmental Study Programs, followed by an enlightening public lecture by Prof. Dr. Firdaus L.N., M.Sc. titled "Nurturing True Learning Minds."

The third and final day, August 12th, 2023, was dedicated to the English Language Education Study Program at the University of Riau. The day began with a solemn Quranic recitation and renditions of patriotic songs, setting a tone of inspiration. The event featured speeches from key figures, including Ricky Jonathan, the chief executive of the English Language Education Study Program, and Muhammad Farhan, the Regent of ESA FKIP at the University of Riau. Drs. Masyhur M. Ed, the Coordinator of the English Language Education Study Program, also addressed the students. The day concluded with an introduction to the English Student Association (ESA) by the Grahita Rasuara administrator.

The pinnacle of the PKKMB activities was marked by a grand closing ceremony held at the University of Riau's Open Space. The ceremony featured the mesmerizing UNRI 2023 PKKMB mosaic formation, comprising three distinct elements: PKKMB 2023, UNRI Logo, and UNRI Academic Culture, symbolized by the words "ASRI (Amanah, Santun, Responsif, dan Inovatif)."
