SEO 2023's Success: Scrupulous Scrutiny and Selection of SEO 2024's Core

English Student Association, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at the University of Riau, has yet again proven its dedication to excellence in education by hosting the grand annual event, Sumatra English Olympiad (SEO) 2023. This prestigious event, held from May 19th to May 27th, 2023, took place at the English Language Education Study Program on the Bina Widya Campus. SEO 2023 was a monumental undertaking, engaging the active students of the English Language Education Study Program who assumed various committee positions and responsibilities. However, the journey didn't end with the conclusion of SEO 2023; it continued with an important evaluation and accountability event known as the Sidang Istimewa SEO, held on September 2nd-3rd, 2023.

The Sidang Istimewa SEO 2023 served as a platform for assessing the performance and accountability of the SEO 2023 committee. This event commenced with a prelude attended by distinguished guests from other institutions, setting a tone of anticipation and importance. The main participants of this evaluation were the Principal Board of SEO 2023, Coordinators from various fields, and one representative from each committee area. Additionally, the evaluation panel included members from different spheres, commonly referred to as the trial or investigators, comprising SC of SEO, DPK, ESA Principal Board, and the Head of the Intellectual Division.

The core purpose of the Sidang Istimewa SEO was to scrutinize the committee's responsibilities and performance based on the Accountability Report (LPJ) submitted by each committee division. The investigators, with precision and diligence, inquired into the execution of SEO 2023. Their questions probed every aspect of the event, from its planning and organization to its execution and impact.

Throughout the two-day event, the Sidang Istimewa SEO proceeded smoothly, thanks to the meticulous preparation of the committee and the able leadership of Deki Saputra, the Chief Executive of SEO 2023. The committee handled the questions and criticisms from the investigators with grace and competence, demonstrating their commitment to transparency and accountability. The feedback and suggestions provided during this evaluation will undoubtedly serve as valuable insights for the planning and execution of future SEO events.

The Sidang Istimewa SEO came to a conclusion with the official validation of the Accountability Report (LPJ) by the court. Additionally, the 2024 SEO core committee was appointed, marking the beginning of a new chapter. The individuals chosen to lead the 2024 SEO committee, namely Tito Castro Siagian, Nurfattaa Bru Sembiring, Nadya Zahrah, and Olga Febiana, will serve as the torchbearers for the next edition of this prestigious event. This transition of leadership not only signifies the completion of the SEO 2023 committee's journey but also heralds the promise of a brighter future for the Sumatra English Olympiad.

ESAFKIP UNRI's SEO 2023 and the subsequent Sidang Istimewa SEO showcased the institution's commitment to nurturing academic excellence and promoting transparency and accountability. As the SEO torch is passed to a new generation of leaders, it is evident that this annual event will continue to thrive and inspire English language enthusiasts for years to come.
